The Cognitive Robot Companion Project

Abstract:
Robots are more and more entering our daily life. Besides the necessary functions for sensing, moving and acting, they will be endowed with more advanced cognitive capacities to be able to understand the spatial structure of their environment, to exhibit a social behavior, to communicate with humans, to take decisions for achieving tasks, to learn new knowledge and abilities. The talk will present results on these topics from the COGNIRON (The Cognitive Robot Companion) project＊ ＊funded by the European Commission’s FP6, within the Information Society Technologies/Future and Emerging Technologies (IST-FET) ‘Beyond Robotics’ initiative, under contract FP6-IST-002020.
